GLORY OF THE HERO

Requirements:

On The Rocks: Defeat Prince Keleseth in Utgarde Keep on Heroic Difficulty without shattering any Frost Tombs

This is a straightforward achievement, tank and spank the boss and don’t hit the frost tombs he casts on people, they appear much the same as ice traps and ice block abilities.

Split Personality: Defeat Grand Magus Telestra in The Nexus on Heroic Difficulty after having killed her images within 5 seconds of each other during both splits.

This is a coordination achievement. Ensure everyone pays close attention to the mobs bars and keep them about the same % all the way down, communication and timing is key.

Chaos Theory: Defeat Anomalus in The Nexus on Heroic Difficulty without destroying any Chaotic Rifts.

This is a very difficult achievement to do for undergeared groups. The best idea is to try this with a dps that can offheal throughout the fight, unless your dps is good enough to kill the boss quickly enough without taking an unhealable amount of damage.

Intense Cold: Defeat Keristrasza in The Nexus on Heroic Difficulty without allowing Intense Cold to reach more than two stacks.

This achievement is most easily accomplished by having a blessing of freedom or magic dispelling class take the chains off of you when you fight Keristrasza. If that is too difficult to have done all the time, use your insignia or racial if you have them.

Watch Him Die: Defeat Krik'thir the Gatewatcher in Azjol-Nerub on Heroic Difficulty while Watcher Gashra, Watcher Narjil and Watcher Silthik are still alive.

The strategy for this varies greatly on group comp and gear. If you have a group in very good gear, pull the packs one by one, leaving the watchers alive and killing the adds, engage and nuke the boss and hope you survive. If your gear is not so great, try to use a class with some sort of slowing effect (frost trap, EB totem, etc.). Depending on who the chosen one is, try having the tank body pull the adds and boss and use the chosen party member to pull aggro on the adds while the rest of the group focus fires down the boss. The chosen party member then slows and kites all of the adds up the ramp to just before the entrance turn, be careful not to pull the adds too close to the entrance or they will despawn along with the boss. You will most likely die with this strat but if you perfect it you will get your achievement. More information can be found here: http://www.wowhead.com/?achievement=1296

Hadronox Denied: Defeat Hadronox in Azjol-Nerub on Heroic Difficulty before he webs the top doors and prevents more creatures from spawning.

This achievement is fairly simple in execution, just pull the boss before he webs the door. If you do it correctly, adds will keep coming while you are killing the boss. AoE them down and once the boss is dead you will have your achievement.

Gotta Go!: Defeat Anub'arak in Azjol-Nerub on Heroic Difficulty in 2 minutes or less.

As of patch 3.0.8 this has been extended to 4 minutes, making it much easier for less geared groups to accomplish. Note that even though the achievement still says 2 minutes, you will still receive it if you kill him within 4 minutes. To do this achievement just focus fire down the boss, stay out of pounds, and be sure to kill adds quickly. Remind your healer to dps whenever possible if you are encountering difficulty.

Respect Your Elders: Defeat Elder Nadox in Ahn'kahet on Heroic Difficulty without killing any Ahn'kahar Guardians.

Begin by clearing out the room you are in and carefully approach the boss. Once he spawns the guardian, have an off tank grab it and run to OT it away from the boss until the immunity goes away, if done right the boss should be rather simple to kill.

The Party’s Over: Defeat Prince Taldaram in Ahn'kahet on Heroic Difficulty with less than 5 people.

This is just like it sounds, do the boss with 4 people

Volunteer Work: Defeat Jedoga Shadowseeker in Ahn'kahet on Heroic Difficulty without killing any Twilight Volunteers.

This is a walk in the park if you have a well geared tank and healer, if not then you most likely won’t accomplish this achievement. Ensure that no one attacks/kills the Twilight Volunteers and allow them to enrage the boss, tank and spank.

Volazj’s Quick Demise: Defeat Herald Volazj in Ahn'kahet on Heroic Difficulty in 2 minutes or less.

This achievement is most easily done by a prot warrior spell reflecting the mind flays that the boss casts as well as having a very heavy-hitting dps lineup. Realize that this is group composition sensitive and not all groups may be able to do this easily. Nothing to the fight except tank/spank and kill your insanity adds ASAP.

Consumption Junction: Defeat Trollgore in Drak'Tharon Keep on Heroic Difficulty before Consume reaches ten stacks.

This is a DPS race, go all out dps and burn him down. If you cannot do this, your second option is to make use of LOS. Have your tank position Trollgore by the room’s pillars so that he cannot see anyone but the tank. Ensure the healer can see the tank but not the boss, and have at least one person on add dps (if you can’t control them have 2 on add control). The dps on the boss has to fight like melee on Firemaw, watch the debuff stacking on the boss and once he gets a stack, immediately go in and dps. Get out after a few seconds and wait until the next stack, time your repeats accordingly.

Better Off Dred: Engage King Dred in Drak'Tharon Keep on Heroic Difficulty and slay 6 Drakkari Gutrippers or Drakkari Scytheclaw during his defeat.

Once you begin to head into the room the boss is located in, take great care to ensure you do not kill any adds before you pull the boss. Once the boss is pulled, try to drop a tremor totem or FW a cleanser for the first little bit of the fight. Have the dps pull the adds one or two at a time (more if you have the gear for it) and dps them down before going to the boss. There are plenty of adds in the room, but do not kill them before the boss is engaged.

Oh Novos!: Defeat Novos the Summoner in Drak'Tharon Keep on Heroic Difficulty without allowing any undead minions to reach the floor.

This is very straightforward, have a couple dps assigned to the stairs, and the tank and another dps should be close to the bottom, ready to kill the adds that come in from the sides. Don’t let anything down the stairs and you’ll be all set.

Lockdown!: Defeat Xevozz, Lavanthor, Ichoron, Zuramat the Obliterator, Erekem, and Moragg in The Violet Hold on Heroic Difficulty

Kill all the bosses in all the cells. Obviously this will take more than one trip, so hope the RNG likes you enough to give you the bosses you need.

Defenseless: Defeat Cyanigosa in The Violet Hold without using Defense Control Crystals and with Prison Seal Integrity at 100% while in Heroic Difficulty.

An easily accomplished achievement, do VH and during all the fights, do not use the Defense Control Crystals (the red things that zap the adds) or allow adds to attack the door.

Dehydration: Defeat Ichoron in the Violet Hold on Heroic Difficulty without allowing any Ichor Globules to merge.

When Ichoron disperses, you will see water go up and in all directions on your screen. If you are having trouble with this achievement, attempt to hold the boss near the entrance of the room and when he disperses, have all the dps split up to focus down adds. Have a dps go each way that the adds are coming from and kill them. For added support, try having the healer attack the adds as well if you still need to kill the adds faster.

A Void Dance: Defeat Zuramat the Obliterator in The Violet Hold without killing any void sentries.

The easiest way to do this is by focusing the boss down and ignoring all the adds. If you have a DK specced for AMZ, make use of it, AOD also helps if your DK has it up. The damage is, of course, shadow so resist accordingly if you have a priest/pally.

Snakes, Why’d It Have To Be Snakes? Defeat Slad'ran in Gundrak on Heroic Difficulty without getting snake wrapped.

There are tons of strategies for this, but the easiest way to ensure all party members receive the achievement is to clear the Colossus boss before attempting this. Have the MT pull Slad’ran and run away into the room you fought the Colossus boss in. Once there, position the boss next to the furthest away of the three bone piles you see upon entering the room. Have the group kill the big snakes as they come in and nuke the boss down. By pulling him into this room he should not be able to summon the green snakes that wrap the party.

What the Eck?: Defeat Gal'darah in Gundrak on Heroic Difficulty while under the effects of Eck Residue.

This is a very straightforward achievement. While fighting Eck the Ferocious, have the group stack up in front of him on the tank and wait for him to spit on everyone. Once he has done this you will have Eck Residue on you. While you have this you must ensure that you stay alive and defeat the last boss before time runs out.

Less-rabi: Defeat Moorabi in Gundrak on Heroic Difficulty while preventing him from transforming into a mammoth at any point during the encounter.

Arguably the most difficult achievement in the game at this point, this achievement requires a tremendous amount of luck. Begin by forming your group with interrupters, 5 if you can handle it. This boss on heroic will cast Transform periodically throughout the fight, halving his cast time with each cast (i.e. he will cast faster and faster). The first few interrupts are easy, however you MUST begin chaining interrupts once he reaches approximately the 35% mark. The luck comes into play by attempting to interrupt a near-instant cast which, without precasting, is obviously impossible with server latency and human reaction time. Thus, good luck.

NOTE: There are reports that imp counterspell and similar effects work on this boss’ transform ability, can anyone confirm?

Share The Love: Defeat Gal'darah in Gundrak on Heroic Difficulty and have 5 unique party members get impaled throughout the fight.

This achievement requires luck from the RNG and a lot of endurance. Begin by having another person that is not the MT hold aggro on the boss, this will increase the chances of the tank getting impaled. Once the MT gets impaled, heal him up and have him taunt the boss off and build some threat, now the rest of the party members are likely to be able to be impaled. Once everyone has been impaled, kill him for your achievement.

Good Grief: Defeat the Maiden of Grief in the Halls of Stone on Heroic Difficulty in 1 minute or less.

You should be use to these strats by now, tank/spank and have your healer help on dps if your group is cutting it close.

Brann Spankin’ New: Defeat the Tribunal of Ages encounter in the Halls of Stone on Heroic Difficulty without allowing Brann Bronzebeard to take any damage.

This requires you to be attentive to all the adds, ensure nothing gets to Brann the entire duration of his hacking session. Groups with good burst tend to do well on this, so if you can, stack your group with burst and AoE.

Abuse the Ooze: Defeat Sjonnir the Ironshaper in the Halls of Stone on Heroic Difficulty and kill 5 Iron Sludges during the encounter.

This is an endurance achievement, as well as a test to see how many things you can keep track of at once. When the boss gets a ways below 50% health, the Uldaman-like mobs will stop coming out and oozes will begin coming from the sides. When these oozes make it to the center, they will combine into an Iron Sludge, which you must then kill. This becomes a challenge in that you must pay close attention to where the boss is, what he’s doing, where the sludges are, and ensure that your healer isn’t getting destroyed by the other adds that you are not currently dpsing. It all comes down to group coordination and endurance, if you can avoid as much damage as possible, and your healer can keep his mana up, you should be able to do it. Be sure your tank keeps the boss away from the sludges so your dps won’t get nuked by an unexpected lightning storm.

Lightning Struck: Defeat General Bjarngrim in the Halls of Lightning on Heroic Difficulty while he has a Temporary Electrical Charge.

This is a gear check for the tank, and a stupidity check for the dps. Ensure the boss has the electric charge before engaging, and make sure you do not pre-kill all the adds in the circuit he walks. When the boss is pulled, dps should focus down the adds one at a time while the tank builds aggro on the boss. Ensure that the dps and healer are not destroyed by WW and you’ll be one step closer to your drake.

Shatter Resistant: Defeat Volkhan in the Halls of Lightning on Heroic Difficulty without allowing him to shatter more than 4 Brittle Golems.

This is a very simple achievement to do, if your dps is good then don’t even worry about the golems and just focus down the boss. If your dps is not so good, then try to use fear or slow/root effects to keep them under control while you focus down the boss.

Timely Death: Defeat Loken in the Halls of Lightning on Heroic Difficulty in 2 minutes or less.

Nothing more than another dps race. Don’t get overzealous and stand in his AoE, but nuke him down as fast as possible.

Zombiefest!: Kill 100 Risen Zombies in 1 minute in The Culling of Stratholme on Heroic Dificulty.

This is one of the more unique achievements in that it requires some time and planning to setup. From the very beginning of the instance until the inn where you fight Epoch, there are 85 zombies. To do this achievement, kill the elite packs like you would normally and kill the first boss; once you get to the second boss, drag him over to the inn. Keeping everyone alive, wait for all the non-elite zombies that you have killed to respawn, this should take only a couple minutes. Once you see them all respawn, you may kill the 2nd boss. Walk with Arthas through the inn and kill Epoch; this will allow Arthas to open the door to the next gauntlet section. Select a party member (usually a tank) to aggro ALL of the zombies from the ENTIRE first section before the inn. Once you have done this run up to the gauntlet to rejoin your party; wait until the zombies are almost all there before you begin killing them. You have 1 minute to kill 100 of them so obviously keep your AoE high and don’t let anyone die if you can help it.

NOTE: An alternative strat to this is to have a single dps in the gauntlet section while the other 4 are down killing the 85. If he pulls and can kill 15 zombies while the rest of the party is killing the 85, all party members in the zone will get credit.

The Culling of Time: Defeat the Infinite Corruptor in The Culling of Stratholme on Heroic Difficulty.

This is nothing more than doing a timed CoS run. If you are having problems with it, try to scout ahead of time where the elite packs are going to be, they usually alternate sides.

NOTE: This has been changed so it no longer requires the Inifinite Corruptor within the timed event.

The Incredible Hulk: Force Svala Sorrowgrave to kill a Scourge Hulk on Heroic Difficulty in Utgarde Pinnacle.

This is one of the more unusual (and fun) achievements in the game. Once your party enters the room and the talk between the Lich King and Svala begins, your party should be pulling the abomination down the stairs and under the platform that you just came down from. Drag him to the platform so the sword will fall on the abom and damage him.

UPDATE: As of 3.0.8 you can now simply have the sword fall on the abomination, and whether it kills him or not you will receive the achievement upon their deaths.

My Girl Loves to Skadi All the Time: Defeat Skadi the Ruthless in Utgarde Pinnacle on Heroic Difficulty after having killed Grauf from 100% to dead in a single pass.

This is rather straight forward and can be done one of two ways. One way is to do the gauntlet and pick up harpoons, waiting for enough adds to spawn to get around 5-6 harpoons and subsequently use them all in a single pass, or to pick up all the harpoons, leash the boss, and reset the gauntlet in order to have the harpoons and kill the boss.

Lodi Dodi We Loves the Skadi: Defeat Skadi the Ruthless in Utgarde Pinnacle on Heroic Difficulty within 3 minutes of starting the gauntlet event.

Using the reset strat listed above, you can get to the end of the gauntlet, dismount Skadi, and you should be able to nuke him down from there. If you have a very well geared group you can do this without resetting as well.

King's Bane: Defeat King Ymiron in Utgarde Pinnacle on Heroic Difficulty without anyone in the party triggering Bane.

This is a very simple achievement, all you must do is pay attention to the boss and watch for him to cast Bane. If he casts it (which typically only happens when dps is low) then everyone (including the tank!) stops all damage and a dispeller purges bane off of the king.

Experienced Drake Rider: On three different visits to The Oculus, get credit for defeating Ley-Guardian Eregos while riding an Amber, Emerald, and Ruby drake on Heroic Difficulty.

Beat Oculus multiple times until you pilot one of each of the drakes.

Make it Count: Defeat Ley-Guardian Eregos in The Oculus on Heroic Difficulty within 20 minutes of Drakos the Interrogator's death.

This requires all members of the party to be very familiar with the instance and be smart about how they fight. Once the first boss is killed, have everyone pick up an amber drake and fly straight up and over to the closest platform with constructs. Be sure to only kill those drakes that will aggro when you pull the construct packs, do not waste time killing every drake in the sky. Once the two platforms of constructs are dead, follow the inner circuit to finish off the remainder and destroy the next boss. Keep destroying adds that the 3rd boss spawns and get to Eregos. The most time efficient way to beat Eregos is with 5 amber drakes, however, if your group is not skilled enough to do this, then go with the safer 2 red, 1 green, 2 amber strat. See the 5 amber drake strat in the respective void section.

Ruby, Emerald, and Amber Void: Defeat Ley-Guardian Eregos in The Oculus on Heroic Difficulty without anyone in your party using a Ruby/Amber/Emerald Drake.

I have lumped these in together in order to save time and space. If your group is coordinated, the best way to get Ruby and Emerald is to get 5 amber drakes. Once you have 5 ambers, move into position to fight Eregos. Amber drakes have 3 key abilities, shock lance (SL, single target damage), time stop (TS, global stun) and temporal rift (TR, debuff). Begin by having 4 drakes channel TR on the boss and one spamming SL. Once the channel is complete, rotate and have the SL spamming drake start channeling and the other four spam SL. The only tricky part of this is time stops, you must time your TS very carefully and it is always the responsibility of whoever is spamming SL at the time to TS. The best times to do it are right as Eregos begins to cast his first breath, and again as soon as the the first TS wears off. If this is correctly done, you can have him dead (or extremely close to it) before he even becomes able to attack.

In order to get Amber Void, it is easiest to go with 2 ruby and 3 emerald drakes. Ensuring all the emerald drakes keep their poison stacked on the boss at all times, have them heal the ruby drake with aggro. With the ruby drake abilities the adds will die simply from chaining attacks off of the boss and it will be easy.
